Vogue9267 Dresses for the New Season

Spring is here! Cherry blossoms are in full bloom. I made two dresses for spring and summer using Vogue9267 .

I purchased Vogue9267 last year. I really wanted to make the pattern but I didn't have a chance to use. It has four sleeve and two skirt variations. I made both dresses using View C in a size 10.

I love the dress the model is wearing in the pattern envelope. Especially the puffy skirt is so lovely. I wanted to make a dress like this, so I used a stiff fabric. I made the dress using wool and polyester blend fabric, but it looks like denim. The pattern recommends 2 1/4 yards for a size 10 of view C. However, I had only 1 7/8 yards in my stash, so I used other fabric as well. I sewed a denim for the waist band and the tie belt. I really like the belt, it accents the dress so well. I changed to the three-quarter sleeves from the long-ones. I also shortened the length of the bodice by 1/4 inch and raised the waistline by 3/4 inch.

I really love the prints of the fabric. All around, I'm super proud of my pattern matching. I used thin and light fabrics, but it's a little bit stiff. Thanks to the fabric, the silhouette of the skirt puffed outwards.

Next review. I made the dress base on Vogue9267. I was inspired by RTW dresses. This model is wearing the striped dress with the black lace one. I made two dresses (a checkered dress and a black lace dress) for myself which are similar to them.

If you are lazy, you can leave out the waist band. I wanted to wear a simple dress, so I didn't make a waist band. I increased the length of the bodice and the skirt by 3/4 inch instead. I changed these folded sleeves and the rounded neckline from the original pattern. I used interfacing on the sleeve cuffs and sewed the black buttons on them. I made the dress using nylon and polyester blend fabric but I don't want to wear nylon clothes in the scorching heat. I would like to make a dress using light linen for mid summer.

I made the black lace dress using a simple tank pattern, so I only added the gathered skirt with an elastic. It took me around a few hours. I will wear it with a simple tee and jeans.

I really like the combination of the checkered dress and the black lace one. However, I can't use the pockets when I wear the black dress! The checkered dress has pockets on both sides, but they are covered by a black dress.

I love both dresses! I'm glad that I finally got to sew and wear them. The instructions were pretty easy to follow. I recommend Vogue9267, you can make tons of pretty dresses for all seasons. I would like to make the pattern with light linen or cotton for summer. If I make a dress with softer fabric, I will add interfacing to the front neckline so it will keep its shape.
The weather has been weird lately. Last year, it snowed in the season in which sunflowers were in full bloom. When I took these photos, it was more than 20 degrees (68°F) in Tokyo. BUT we had a heavy snowfall one week ago! (the snow has melted). Can you believe it? I thought summer came before spring(^_^;)
Fabric : Navy Dress 60" 1 7/8yd, Check Dress 60" 2yd, Black Lace 45" 2 1/8 yd.
Total Time Spent (Not include cutting time): Navy Dress 12 hours, Check Dress 10 hours

  1. Don't even mention the snow... It's been snowing heavily since this morning in Warsaw and I already put away my Winter boots!... It should stop tomorrow and it's plus 7 degrees C now, with plus 13 degrees C tomorrow I hope it'll quickly melt down! *^v^*
But I digress, the dresses. I love the first one - my favourite shape, perfect sleeve length, great fabric! *^o^* The belt adds a little Japanese feel to it, I think I'm going to steal this idea and use it in some of my dresses! ^^*~~ With the red shoes it all looks great.
The second dress is great too and I'd never think about pairing it with lace overdress but it works so well! Although yes, poliester for Summer is not the best idea, maybe some linen? I've been thinking about making some linen dresses for Summer this year, it's such a great fabric for hot and humid weather. *^v^*

    1. Thank you so much Joanna! Is' so cold in Warsaw! I put away my winter clothes a few weeks ago, but I plucked
out a warm coat(×_×;) It's as warm as early summer now.
I am glad that you like the belt. I often make a marching belt from leftover fabric. I am looking forward to seeing your linen dress. I will send you some Japanese sewing books again. These books have many dress patterns(^_^)

  7. You are so creative. I really like all three dresses! The denim look one has a beautiful waistband is so elegant on you. The other outfit is so fun! But the black dress could also be worn over a black slip for a really chic evening look. I like the sleeves on the check one.

  18. I have seen Vogue 9267 many times in the catalogue, but have never "seen" it as a dress. It always looked old fashioned to me. Your version looks wonderful - fresh and youthful and not old fashioned at all - and you are right, the sash does make the dress. I love your lace dress as well (along with the underdress). You will be able to wear the lace dress over so many things.

    1. Thank you for putting it that way Sarah! I am glad that you said so. I have too many lace fabrics and want to use them😁 I avoid to wear polyester clothes in summer, but the lace dress is really comfortable.

  19. All three dresses are gorgeous!! What immediately caught my eye with the first one, is your awesome pattern and seam matching skills both front and back. Perfection! And it is really nicer with the color coordinated blue denim waistband and belt than if you'd made it all of the same fabric. Love this look!! Particularly with your cute red shoes! You definitely duplicated your inspiration look with the next two dresses and it's amazing how different each of those are, yet they pair together so well. It was also nice to see your inspiration photograph. Last but not least.... the weather..... we are having crazy weather here in South Carolina, United States too! One day it's 'winter'.... the next day it seems to be 'summer'....! Most unusual temps. Your beautiful cherry blossoms must be really lovely this time of year. :)

    1. Thank you so much Lisa! I'm glad you said that. The dresses were easy to make than I thought. I love the pattern and recommend it to everyone.
It's weird weather in your place too😲...it's difficult to adapt to the sudden change in temperature😩 I've been to the USA several times but I didn't know that. I hope you have a lovely spring.
I really love your fabric choice and look forward to seeing new blog post. Happy sewing♪
