Simplicity 8060 Khanki Linen Jumpsuit

A hot summer is coming... I made a khaki jumpsuit out of linen.

I used Simplicity 8060. I was looking for a new jumpsuit pattern for the summer. Finally I found this pattern. This jumpsuit pattern in two lengths. I made a full length pants version; view A. I have made a jumpsuit several times, but this was the first time that I made the shirt jumpsuit.

I was inspired by the jumpsuit that Jennifer Lopez is wearing in this photo. I am not a fan of her but I love this her style in the photo. So I decided to make the jumpsuit with the khaki linen.

I changed the design a little. I added tabs on the sleeves so that it's easy to fold them. One thing, I was a little worried about was that I didn't want a "Safari style" jumpsuit! I was a bit concerned about the collar, because it would turn out looking like the safari style or uniforms. So I converted the collar from a conventional to a stand collar that like J. Lo is wearing. Unfortunately, I'm not sexy like J. Lo, but I am happy with the new jumpsuit :)

I cut a size 10. My measurement is close to a 10, but I usually feel size a 10 in Simplicity patterns are too big. I shorten the length by 4/5 inches of an inch in the bodice and rise. I only add 1 inch to the sleeve length because I will wear the jumpsuit until fall.
This instructions were clear and simple to follow. But I didn't understand how to make the zipper (The method is a little different from in Japan), but I found the great video: How to Sew a Jumpsuit with Mimi G Style Simplicity 8060. It was really helpful!

Jumpsuits are really convenient clothes when I am in a hurry in the morning. And this jumpsuit is super comfortable to wear. Next time I would like to sew with a stretchy denim.
PS. My husband said that " This jumpsuit looks like an ARMY UNIFORM." ... Soooooooo I had mixed feelings about it.
Total time spent: 14 hours
Fabric: 2 3/4

  3. Oh my...I love this!!! This looks so stylish. It looks fabulous on you! I'm definitely going to have to make one for me now. I have seen different patterns out there, but yours definitely makes me want one. I use to wear them when I was a teenager many years ago. I think it's time I start wearing them again.

  6. You look fabulous in the jumpsuit! It actually reminds me of Hermès Spring 2014 collection, not an army uniform. Your shoes are adding a stylish tough as well. I love the whole presentation!

  8. I love this jumpsuit on you - it is beautiful! It most certainly is not an army uniform. It has elements that are military inspired and there is nothing wrong with that. It is chic and stylish. And I agree with Sarah Webb. It is better than J. Lo's!
